Visiting Relatives
During my winter holiday, my father drove me to my hometown to visit
our relatives.
On a sunny morning when there were still stars in the sky we started off
on the way. Entering the highway we were lucky to find there was less
traffic on it and very soon we reached the exit for our hometown.
Leaving the highway, we entered the local roads where the scenery
attracted my attention. On both sides of the roads, there are tall trees or
smart cottages with the same facades lining up as if to greet us. Bridges
or overpasses are built across the rivers and ditches. The fields
are covered with young wheat plants which were almost withered in cold
winter. The wheat fields extended to the far horizon. I’m sure when spring
comes, the fields will turn green, the most lively color. The roads from
the highway to the local villages are all paved with cement and bitumen.
The former narrow and muddy roads had completely disappeared. It took
us a little more than two hours to cover the distance of 250 kmfromBeijing
to my hometown.
On seeing my grandma, my uncles and all other relatives, we felt excited
and the fatigue caused by the distance travel had completely vanished. Then
we chatted about the local events and the great changes in the local place.
On the way back home, I felt overjoyed not only because of the native
products offered to us by our relatives but also the happy life the local
people are living nowadays.
