as a result 和as a result of 的区别

as a result of为短语介词，后跟名词、代词等，意为“由于…的原因”相当于because of；as a result为副词用法，意为“结果是”，后面指事情的结果，如： 

The train was delayed as the (a) result of the heavy rain. 

由于大雨的缘故主，火车晚点了。 

He got up very late today. As a result, he missed the first bus.  

他今天起晚了，结果没赶上头班车。

as a result相当于一个连词，一般用于句首，且要用逗号与后面的句子隔开，是因此，所以的意思；
as aresult of 是一个介词短语，后面接名词，动名词等，不能接句子，是由于，因为的意思。

as a result是一个习惯短语，意为“因此”“结果”。如：
　① As a result, the discussion was put off until the following week.
结果讨论被推迟到了下星期。
② He fell off the bike and hurt his leg yesterday. As a result he had to be away from school for two or three months.
昨天他从自行车上掉了下来，摔伤了腿。因此他不得不休学两三个月。
③ As a result he was sent away from school. 结果他被赶出了学校。
④ He didn’t practice, and as a result he lost. 他没有练习，所以输了。
⑤ The traffic was very heavy and as a result we didn’t arrive on time.
交通十分拥挤，因此我们没能准时到达。
as a result of意为“因为”“由于”“……的结果”，用来作状语。如：
　① He is unable to go to work as a result of the fall off the horse.
由于他从马上摔了下来，他不能去上班了。
② He was late as a result of the heavy snow. 他迟到是由于大雪所导致的。
③ As a result of warning, nobody was hurt. 由于得到了警告，因此没有人受伤。

as a result是所以然/结果的意思
比如说:as a result, he commited suicide. (所以/结果,他自杀了.)

as a result of是因为... 所以....
比如说:as a result of failure, he commited suicide. (因为失败,所以他自杀了)
